After researching some video editing software for my project, I decided that I will use the editing software I am most familiar with and have used for personal videos/content creation on YouTube for over a year. I researched and reviewed OpenShot Video Editor, ClipChamp, and DaVinci Resolve 17, while also looking at each one's pros and cons. In the end, I figured that my personal choice ended up being better than the other two editing softwares. Here's why:
Clip champ:
Pros:
- User friendly interface, gives you tips to figure out the system.
- Easy to use.
- Gives you templates to work with.
- No watermarks!
- Variety of sfx/vfx to use!
- Includes stock videos/audios to use along with your videos.
Cons:
- Videos export in 480p quality (decently viewable quality but not too great)
- You must pay for a subscription to be able to export videos at a better quality.
OpenShot Video Editor
Pros:
- Cross-Platform (You can use it in Windows, Linux, and Mac)
- Includes Slow Motion/Time Effects for you to use.
- Includes an animation framework so you can create smooth transitions/effects!
- You can render 3D Animations like snow, lens flare, or flying text.
- Unlimited Tracks/Layers for you to add however many items in your edit.
- Visualize audio in waveforms.
- Available in 70+ languages.
- You can export in 1080 60fps for free!
- Also renders in 4K or 5K!
Cons:
- User Interface can be confusing to figure out by yourself.
DaVinci Resolve 17
Pros:
- Multi-User Collab! (People can work together in a project)
- Works with 3rd Party plug-ins and storage.
- Contains over 100 video/film effects!
- Easy for new users to learn.
- Exports at high qualities (1080p 60fps and higher).
- Easy to cut videos, add transitions and effects, etc.
- User Friendly Interface.
- Able to watch your video as you're editing (for multitaskers :D).
- And more!
Cons
- Exporting times may be a bit too long for your time schedule.
