Scriptwriting

My script is related to horror because it contains elements that are usually included in horror movies. This includes killers, intense moments, gore, suspense, demonic entities, etc.

The required components of a script include:

  • The name of the play/playwright
  • Acts and scenes
  • Characters
  • Dialogues
  • Stage directions for the actors/actresses
All of these components are important in a script because you need to make it easy for your actors and crew members to understand what you want them to do. Simplifying the script is crucial to successfully have a smooth filming experience. The acts and scenes are important because you want to make your actors/camera crew understand which actions/camera techniques go in which scenes. Characters are important to help your actors know their role and memorize who exactly they are playing, making it easier for them to act correctly. Dialogues are important since your actors will need to know what their lines are, so they are not confused on which lines they are actually supposed to say. Stage directions are also important because you want your actors to comprehend where and when they need to do certain actions, like changing their expression or making a certain move.

The genre of my group's project/film is horror. Production companies that specializes in films similar to mine are Blumhouse Productions, Twisted Pictures, Dark Castle Entertainment, SpectreVision, A24, DREAD, Ghost House Pictures, Dark Sky Films, etc. Similar movies include A Quiet Place, Scream, Rec, etc. I would work with Blumhouse Productions to create my movie because of the low budget and higher versatility in business compared to bigger production studios.
